Management training in Moldova

A World Bank economist investigates the general question of whether manager s of former state-owned enterprises in the successor countries of the Sovie t Union are able to acquire new skills through training. More specifically, using data on 137 Moldovan enterprises and their managers (all of whom wer e promoted to their positions prior to transition), he examines the extent to which manager training is associated with subsequent improvements in the performance of their enterprises.
