Abstract
This work discusses the main clinical features of inflammatory bon el disea se (IBD) and the methods to obtain an accurate diagnostic. Nuclear medicine procedures are deeply analyzed, with special emphasis In those where clini cal experience is larger and that are available for clinical practice in mo st countries. In the opinion of the authors Tc-99m-HMPAO is the first choic e agent, while In-111-oxine could be considered as the gold standard for ev aluation of new agents. In the context of IBD, the WBC scintigraphy is usef ul for its diagnosis (early and accurate) and the evaluation of disease ext ension Cn hole bowel examination, without patient preparation and negligibl e risk). The evaluation of disease severity deserves further experiences.
