TRIFLUOROACETYLATION OF MURICHOLIC ACIDS AND HYOCHOLIC ACIDS

Trifluoroacetylation of alpha-muricholic acid and alpha- and beta-hyoc holic acids is incomplete under routine conditions (at room temperatur e with trifluoroacetic anhydride for 30 min), whereas beta-muricholic acid reacts completely. Complete trifluoroacetylation of these bile ac ids was achieved by reaction at room temperature for 16-24 h. Trifluor oacetylation of alpha-muricholic acid at room temperature for 48 h or at a higher temperature (50 degrees C) for 0.5-1.0 h led to another un known peak.
