Abstract
Acylation of 1,n-bis-(5-tert-butyl-2-methoxyphenyl)alkanes 6 and 5,13- di-tert-butyl-8,1 6-dimethoxy[2.2]metacyclophane 15 with an acid chlor ide or acid anhydride in the presence of a Lewis acid affords only the product arising from two-fold ipso-acylation at the tert-butyl groups .
