Abstract
The surface electronic configuration of Pt3Mn(111) and layered (2 x 2) Pt/P t3Mn(111) compounds within a parametrized tight-binding scheme is calculate d by means of the Surface Green Function Matching method. The effects of th e spin-orbit coupling within the central fell approach are studied in detai l, concerning both the layer density of states and the atomic magnetic mome nts.
