Abstract
Liquid chromatography and electrophoresis played a major role in the life-s cience revolution, most strikingly in protein purification, peptide fractio nation and sequencing, amino acid analysis, and DNA sequencing. The objecti ve of this article is to examine the potential role of separation systems i n the continuing evolution of biochemistry, biotechnology and molecular bio logy, Very small chip-based systems may change how chemical analyses in bio logy, medical research and health care evolve over the next decade.
