The psychiatrist is very often confronted with patients after intoxica
tion in suicidal intention. A fast transfer from an intensive care uni
t to the psychiatric hospital is very important, especially for patien
ts which show continual suicidal tendencies. Delayed intoxication-effe
cts are rare, but they can represent a vital threat to the patient. Su
bstances with a hepatical metabolism can cause organic complications a
fter a latent period. They can also interact with the given psychotrop
ic drugs (CYP-P450-system). We present a 37-year-old female patient wh
ich developed a coagulopathy after a mixed intoxication with Phenproco
umon. After detoxication of suicidal patients on intensive-care-units,
the frequent control of somatic parameters in the psychiatric hospita
l is very important.
