Abstract
Lignin is a natural product of phenolic nature. The effect of partial replacement of phenol by lignin on the properties of novolak resins ha s been studied. Also the change in properties of moulding powders base d on conventional novolak on replacing wood flour filler by lignin has been experimentally studied. Addition of lignin reduced the mechanica l properties of the resin slightly but improved the electrical resista nce. The reduction in mechanical properties was greater when lignin wa s used as a filler. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved .
