Blood sera obtained from 2 064 bulls randomly selected in artificial i
nsemination stations and bull rearing stations were examined for the p
resence of autoantibodies to the sperms (AbS) using the developed enzy
me-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). At serum dilution 1 : 40 the in
cidence of positive bulls was 26.7%. In individual investigation perio
ds the incidence of AbS ranged between 9 and 39.7%. In a set of 586 bu
lls the presence of antibodies to Chlamydia sp. was detected in blood
sera in 32.1% by a micromethod of complement binding. The possibility
of involving genital infection as one of several factors taking part a
t the development of AbS is discussed. Examination of blood sera of 98
1 boars for the presence of AbS by ELISA method revealed positivity on
ly in 7.74%.
