Abstract
MC4-R mRNA expression was investigated in fetal rats (E14-E20) using i n situ hybridisation. The autonomic nervous system showed the highest levels of MC4-R mRNA expression. In the spinal cord, dense signal was seen over the future intermediolateral cell column and dorsal hem. In the brain, MC4-R was expressed by E14 in diencephalon neuroepithelia, telencephalon, lamina terminalis and spinal trigeminal nucleus and was expressed by E19 throughout many regions of the brain.
