Analysis of the title complex, K-2[Fe(CN)(4)(C10H8N2)].-2.5H(2)O, show
s that the asymmetric unit contains two [Fe(bpy)(CN)(4)](2-) units, fo
ur K+ ions and five water molecules. There is extensive hydrogen bondi
ng within the structure and, as expected, all hydrogen-bond donors and
accepters are involved in hydrogen bonding, resulting in a complex th
ree-dimensional network. The water molecules and K+ ions occupy three
different channels in the framework created by the packing of the [Fe(
bpy)(CN)(4)](2-) units.
