CHATTER IN THE STRIP ROLLING PROCESS, PART-1 - DYNAMIC-MODEL OF ROLLING

This paper presents the development of a new dynamic, model of the rol ling process which provides estimates of the variations in exit gage, strip speed and tension at entry and exit, rolling force and rolling t orque in response to variations in roll separation as well as the rate of change of the roll spacing. This two-dimensional dynamic model emp loys the Tresca friction factor approach instead of Amontons-Coulomb f riction law.
