Reduction of electron thermal diffusivity chi(e) was investigated by c
omparing the internal transport barrier (ITB) with that of high-beta(p
) discharges. In reversed shear discharges heated by neutral beams, ch
i(e) reduction was significant when negative magnetic shear was strong
. Radial location of ITB propagated outwards and then localized near t
he region of q-minimum for both the ion and the electron channels. Red
uction In chi(e) was also observed in the electron heating regime by i
on cyclotron heating.
