Abstract
A model of steady-state propagation of a craze in a unidirectional fib er reinforced composite loaded by a constant stress suddenly applied a long the composite fibers is treated assuming that the mechanism of th is phenomenon is the delayed fracture of the composite matrix. An illu strative example is presented for the composite whose matrix and fiber s are made of glass and of ceramics respectively.
