A. Ezoubtchenko et al., MEASUREMENTS OF PLASMA PARAMETERS IN THE DIRECT-CURRENT DISCHARGE FORISOTOPE-SEPARATION, Plasma sources science & technology, 7(2), 1998, pp. 136-140
The isotope separation phenomenon was observed in a DG discharge of ra
re gases through a thin capillary. We measured ion density and electro
n temperature in the positive column of neon and krypton plasmas to un
derstand the mechanisms of isotope separation. We obtained isotope sep
aration factors 1.25 for Ne-22/Ne-20 and 1.6 for Kr-86/Kr-80 for the c
urrent densities up to 300 A cm(-2). It is shown that one of the prese
nted theories, 'ion wind', satisfactorily explains the experimental re
sults.
