Isogenic lines were developed in order to assess the precise effects o
f the 1BL/1RS translocation on quality characteristics and agronomic t
raits. Results showed that the translocation has a detrimental effect
on sodium dodecyl sulphate sedimentation volume, in any background. Yi
eld was similar between translocated and non-translocated lines; howev
er, lines carrying 1BL/1RS showed a significant increase in grain weig
ht, together with a decrease in spike number per plant.
