The reaction of K[N{P(S)R-2}(2)] (R=Ph or Pr-i) with [Mo(N3S2)Cl-3] in
CH2Cl2 gave [Mo(N3S2){(Ph-2(O)PNP(S)Ph-2}(2)] (1) and [Mo(N3S2) {Pr-i
(2)(O)PNP(S)Pr-i(2)}2] (2), the first examples of molybdenum complexes
containing an imidophosphinate Ligand. 1 and 2 have been characterise
d spectroscopically (IR/Raman, EPR) and by X-ray crystallography: 1 ad
opts the common puckered conformation for the ME2P2N ring but 2 is the
first example of a 'planar' Me2P2N (E=O, S or Se) ring. (C) 1998 Else
