The generalized data on the seismisity of the Tunka basins region on s
outhwestern flank of the Baikal Rift Zone, which were accumulated by t
he end of the XX century, are presented. The field of the epicenters o
f the earthquakes concentrated in three zones bounding aseismic or muc
h less seismic regions is studied. These zones not always coincide wit
h zones of faults. The average recurrence of earthquakes of various en
ergy in the zones is estimated. The earthquake mechanisms indicate var
ious types of Focal motions. The position of a new June 29, 1995 earth
quake, which is comparable with the largest earthquakes in the region
under study in the XIX century, in the seismic process is analyzed. It
s epicenter is located at the eastern edge of the zone with the greate
st concentration of earthquake epicenters, in the Tunka basin.
