Bj. Turner et al., THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DEMONSTRATIONS IN DISSEMINATING RESEARCH-BASED COUNSELING PROGRAMS, Science communication, 19(4), 1998, pp. 349-365
This study explores whether a demonstration designed to persuade addic
tion treatment agencies to adopt a research-based treatment program an
d to evaluate the program under field conditions was a successful diss
emination strategy. The results suggest that a demonstration, as one c
omponent of an ongoing dissemination plan, may be useful in persuading
community treatment agencies to investigate a research-based treatmen
t program However agencies may not adopt a counseling program followin
g a demonstration without first testing it themselves.
