Qualitative methods are increasingly employed to conduct research in i
nformation studies. The objective of this paper is to present how a qu
alitative approach was used to study the complex and poorly defined co
ncept of information resources management. It explains the general app
roach to data collection, with its advantages and limitations, as well
as the process used to analyse the data. It presents some results, al
ong with the lessons learned through using this method.
