Neutron Compton scattering has been used to study lithium-ion dynamics
in the intercalation compounds LiTiS2, LiV2O5 and Li0.45MoO3. Mean at
omic kinetic energies were determined for LiTiS, in the temperature ra
nge 13 less than or equal to T less than or equal to 298 K by isolatin
g the lithium recoil peak in the neutron Compton profile. Low intensit
y of the lithium recoil peak led to large errors in observed values fo
r LIV2O5 and, in the case of Li0.45MoO3, failure to fit the peak. (C)
