Abstract
Coherent inelastic neutron scattering technique has been used to measu re the low energy part of the phonon dispersion relation from a natura l single crystal of zircon, ZrSiO4 at room temperature. A lattice dyna mical model is used for the calculation of phonon dispersion relation and the one-phonon structure factors. The measurements are in good agr eement with our lattice dynamical calculations. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scie nce B.V. All rights reserved.
