Abstract
The temperature dependence of spin dynamics in the S = 3/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain, CsVCl3, was studied by inelastic neutron-scat tering experiment, The dynamical scattering function can be described by a Lorentzian with a q-independent line width, as predicted by the c lassical spin model. Although the line width is expected to vanish at T = 0 K in the classical spin model, the observed line width is extrap olated to be finite at T = 0 K. This result suggests that quantum fluc tuations play an important role at low temperatures in S = 3/2 spin-ch ain systems. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
