The magnetic structure of CaMn7O12 was investigated by neutron powder
diffraction measurments in temperatures from 1.7K to RT. We observed s
everal magnetic reflections which appear around 86K. Their 2 theta pos
itions shift considerably and get broader between 30 and 50K, where an
anomaly in magnetic susceptibility exists. These phenomena can be due
to a modulated magnetic arrangement of the magnetic moments of Mn ion
s with a strongly temperature-dependent modulation period. An estimate
of the value of the magnetic moments is given. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scie
