We study different models, heterogeneous or homogenized, of a fabric w
here shearing between warp and welf is taken into account. To this aim
, we introduce two two-dimensional displacement fields in the areas wh
ere warp and welf are superposed. If warp and welf interact through el
astic forces, a classical study of functional analysis shows that the
problem has one unique solution. The homogenization method of periodic
media applied to this model of fabric yields different macroscopic mo
dels following the strength of the coupling between warp and welf and
whether the fabric is coated or not.
