Abstract
Metallography and image analysis were applied to study a plasma spraye d Ni20Cr coating on an Al substrate and the structure evolution by dif fusion during the heat treatment of these couples. The results show th at while the thickness of layers could be measured almost automaticall y, the particle characterization required some caution as manual editi ng and careful selection of the magnification.
