Abstract
A velocity measurement system based on a miniature four-sensor hot-wir e probe capable of simultaneous three-component measurements throughou t a wide range of flow angles has been developed. The calibration tech nique allows measurements to be made throughout the acceptance cone of the probe without being restricted by the errors associated with anal ytic angle response equations. This technique is based upon look-up ta bles with values which tend to vary slowly, allowing a simple interpol ation scheme to be used. Measurements made in a turbulent pipe flow ve rify the accuracy of the technique.
