C. Chiccoli et al., A MONTE-CARLO SIMULATION OF AN INPLANE SWITCHING LIQUID-CRYSTAL DISPLAY, International journal of modern physics C, 9(3), 1998, pp. 409-419
The Monte Carlo (MC) method is applied to the modeling of a liquid cry
stal display based on the in-plane switching effect. This is the first
attempt to simulate this device features starting from purely microsc
opic molecular interactions. The optical textures are obtained from th
e Monte Carlo generated microscopic equilibrium configurations by mean
s of a Muller matrix approach. Suitable order parameters are also calc
ulated to quantify the ordering and the molecular organization across
the display cell.
