The free vibration of a rectangular plate with an oblique inelastic li
ne constraint under various boundary conditions is analytically invest
igated. A double Fourier sine series is employed for the modal displac
ement functions and the method of stationary potential energy is appli
ed for the analysis to obtain the general analytical solution. The geo
metric boundary conditions and interior oblique inelastic line constra
int are enforced by means of Stokes' Transformation and the Lagrange m
ultipliers. The normalized frequency parameters and mode shapes are ob
tained for various boundary conditions and the results are cross-check
ed with those by MSC/NASTRAN Finite Element package.
