FLAVONOID CELLOBIOSIDES FROM SALVIA-ULIGINOSA

Two new flavone glycosides with an unusual interglycosidic linkage hav e been isolated from the petals of Salvia uliginosa and identified by NMR spectroscopy as apigenin 7-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1''' --> 4 '') -beta-D-glucopyranoside and apigenin 7-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1''' - -> 4 eta-D-glucopyranoside-4'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside. The NMR and UV spectra of these compounds were compared with those of the known comp ound, apigenin 7,4'-O,O-di-beta-D-glucopyranoside, which was isolated from the same source.
