Mj. Wang et al., CARBON-SILICA DUAL-PHASE FILLER, A NEW-GENERATION REINFORCING AGENT FOR RUBBER - PART I - CHARACTERIZATION, Kautschuk und Gummi, Kunststoffe, 51(5), 1998, pp. 348
Carbon-silica dual phase filler (CSDP filler) differs in many aspects
from the traditional fillers currently used in rubber compounds. Accor
ding to the characterization with different analytical techniques, thi
s material consists of two phases, the carbon phase with finely divide
d silica domains dispersed therein. In various polymers, the CSDP fill
er shows higher filler-polymer and lower filler-filler interaction, In
combination with a coupling agent, abrasion resistance is comparable
to its carbon black counterpart, while the viscoelastic properties of
the filled rubbers are improved: the hysteresis at higher temperature
is depressed drastically and that at low temperature is increased.
