Crosslink density or intercrosslink chain density of natural rubber vu
lcanizates with and without carbon black can be obtained by means of t
he H-1-NMR transversal relaxation, the analysis of uniaxial stress-str
ain measurements, the investigation of swelling properties and, in spe
cial cases of peroxide cured samples, by calculation. It is the object
ive of the present study to compare the results obtained with these te
chniques in order to find out the limits and possibilities. Therefore,
several vulcanization systems with different types and concentrations
of carbon black were investigated. Altogether, the results provide a
consistent picture of network characteristics.
