In this paper, the physical meaning of Zero point of charge measured b
y acid-base potentiometric titration (PT) is discussed and it is consi
dered to be zero point of net charge (ZPNC). The interrelations of ZPN
C (pH(ZPNC)),Zero point of variable charge (pH(ZPVC)),permanent charge
density (sigma(p)), variable charge density (sigma(v)) and total net
surface charge density (sigma(T)) are theoretically analyzed. The pH(Z
PNC) and sigma(p) of the nanoparticles of aluminum-magnesium hydroxide
are determined by PT method. Effects of electrolyte and pH on various
electrochemical parameters are investigated. In addition, effect of C
O32- on the results obtained via PT method is also studied.
