Two physical ways for prevention against tick bites are reviewed. A bi
bliographic study showes that the bettest repellents seem DMP, DEFT an
d 3535. DEET is the chemical more investigated for its tolerance. The
other way is used of permethrin-impregnated clothes. Controlled experi
ments show that clothing impregnated or sprayed with permethrin offers
good protection against vectors. Numerous armies use this protection
in endemics areas. Tolerance survey with 30 French soldiers stationned
in Guyane has shown greatly results.
