THE OBSERVATION OF POSTCOLLISION INTERACTION IN STATES OF N2O EXCITEDBY ELECTRON-IMPACT

Results are presented which comprise the first detailed study of the p ost-collision interaction (PCI) in electron impact ionization of a mol ecular target. PCI shifts of three states were examined with broad agr eement being found between our measurements and theoretical prediction s based on studies involving atomic targets. Two of these states were the lowest members of two Rydberg series. Higher-lying members of thes e series did not show a PCI shift.
