Abstract
Aromatic amides have been prepared with high to moderate yields by a d irect condensation reaction of aromatic carboxylic acids with aromatic amines in the presence of phosphorous acid and iodine in pyridine sol ution at reflux (about 140-150 degrees), for 5-6 hours.
