Lg. Huey et al., ATMOSPHERE FATE OF CF3OH .1. GAS-PHASE THERMAL-DECOMPOSITION, JOURNAL OF GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH-ATMOSPHERES, 100(D9), 1995, pp. 18771-18774
The homogeneous unimolecular decomposition of CF3OH was studied in a q
uartz flow reactor with a fixed-length, variable temperature reaction
zone, using chemical ionization detection of CF3OH. The pressure indep
endent rate coefficient for the decomposition of CF,OH in N-2 was meas
ured to be k(infinity)(T)=(3+27, -2.7) x 10(11) s(-1) exp{(-(19+/-4) x
10(3))/T}, which translates to a lifetime of greater than 10(4) years
with respect to unimolecular decomposition in the atmosphere.
