Abstract
New high-spin isomers in Lu-175, Ta-181 and W-186 target nuclei have b een strongly excited by pulsed U-238 beams. The use of inelastic excit ation opens up an uncharted region in the neutron-rich K-isomer landsc ape. First results establish the key role of multi-quasiparticle confi gurations in the high-angular-momentum structure. (C) 1998 Elsevier Sc ience B.V. All rights reserved.
