Abstract
The phonon spectrum of the Tl2Ba2CuO6 compound has been investigated b y Raman scattering for variations in the Tl and oxygen contents. We ob serve large changes of the vibrational frequencies and lineshapes of t he apical oxygen, O(2), and the oxygen in the double TlO layer, O(3), for a Tl content which coincides with the orthorhombic-tetragonal phas e transition. Oxygen annealed samples (T-c approximate to 20 K) exhibi t slightly lower frequencies of the O(2) and O(3) modes than the as-si ntered samples (T-c approximate to 70K).
