Abstract
The natural stability of the three signals usually used for ESR dating of stalagmitic carbonates [h-3 (g = 2.000 7), broad line (g = 2.004 0 ) and h-1 (g = 2.005 7)] has been studied in a thick Pleistocene stala gmitic floor. For samples younger than 300,000 years, the three lines can be used indifferently for dating. For older samples, only h-1 and the broad line give true dates; the results obtained from h-3 line is probably related to the short lifetime of this trap in natural conditi ons.
