Abstract
The microstructure of the n = 3 member of the homologous series of sup erconductors GaSr2Can-1CunO2n+3 prepared under high pressure (6 GPa) w as investigated by means of selected-area electron diffraction (SAED) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The GaSr 2Ca2Cu3O9+delta phase has an orthorhombic structure with a double peri odicity along the b-axis, due to the intralayer ordering between two d ifferent types of GaO4 chains. Also, interlayer disordering of the cha ins along the c-axis was observed.
