Jm. Jentzen et Mf. Ernst, DEVELOPING MEDICOLEGAL DEATH INVESTIGATOR SYSTEMS IN FORENSIC PATHOLOGY, Clinics in laboratory medicine, 18(2), 1998, pp. 279
As a result of recent national events involving high-profile murder ca
sts, medicolegal death investigation has begun to slowly receive the a
ttention it deserves. Despite continued local problems of financial su
pport and political control, the development of regionalized centers o
f forensic excellence is gradually improving the access of rural and s
uburban aeas to high-quality forensic science services. Recent efforts
to improve the duality of lay death investigators through hiring prac
tices, training, and certification promises to eventually provide more
professionally qualified and experienced death investigators.
