Abstract
Symmetry of the superconducting order parameter in cuprates is analyze d in relation with recent inelastic neutron-scattering data. It is sho wn that the experimental results for YBa2Cu3O7-eta rule out the possib ility of extended s wave pairing. On the contrary, the neutron scatter ing data are in a very good agreement with d(x2-y2) symmetry of the su perconducting order parameter. Since only these two candidates remain after precise recent measurements of Josephson junctions, we conclude that the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter in YBCO is d( x2-y2).
