P. Nicolai et al., REGIONAL AND DISTANT METASTASES IN LARYNGEAL AND HYPOPHARYNGEAL SARCOMAS, The Annals of otology, rhinology & laryngology, 107(6), 1998, pp. 540-546
Cervical node and distant metastases are the most important prognostic
factors in malignant laryngeal neoplasms. Owing to the unusual occurr
ence of laryngeal sarcomas, the prevalence of their metastases has nev
er been analyzed in detail. We reviewed the laryngeal sarcomas reporte
d in the literature and noticed that both regional and distant metasta
ses are rare events and variable for different histotypes. These obser
vations have obvious therapeutic and prognostic implications.
