Abstract
DNA fragment containing Schizosaccharomyces pombe homologue of the cla ss II fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase gene was cloned and sequenced . A long open reading frame, which encodes a polypeptide of 358 amino acid residues, was found in the sequence. Amino acid sequence deduced from the nucleotide sequence is 63% homologous to the amino acid seque nce of the enzyme of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Northern blot analysis revealed that 1.3 kb poly(A)(+) RNA is transcribed from this DNA seque nce.
