We present an analytical estimate for the upper limit of the shell cor
rection SK, to the compressibility coefficient KA Of finite nuclei. A
simple model with a spherical harmonic oscillator potential was adopte
d and the self-consistency condition was taken into account. We find t
hat the magnitude of the shell correction term delta K-A is comparable
to that associated with the current experimental uncertainties in det
ermining the energy of the isoscalar giant monopole resonance.
