The equation of state of asymmetric matter including the relativistic
exchange and correlation parts is calculated in the sigma-omega model.
The results are discussed in comparison with empirical informations a
nd phenomenological approaches. Neutron star matter in beta equilibriu
m and the resulting neutron star masses are also discussed.
