P. Crespo et al., PULSE-SHAPE ANALYSIS IN THE LIQUID XENON MULTIWIRE IONIZATION-CHAMBERFOR PET, IEEE transactions on nuclear science, 45(3), 1998, pp. 561-567
A method of computation of the pulse shape in an ionisation chamber wi
th wire collectors has been developed and verified experimentally with
a test chamber. Good agreement between the calculated waveforms and t
he acquired signals is obtained. Having proved its reliability, the sa
me method was applied to study the dependence of the signal pulse shap
e and amplitude on the location of primary ionisation due to 511 keV g
amma-rays in the liquid xenon multiwire ionisation chamber for PET. A
method of real-rime amplitude correction for this effect is suggested,
resulting in significant improvement of energy resolution. The simula
ted resolution for 511 keV gamma-rays is 15%.
