G. Swiderskakolacz et al., THE INFLUENCE OF STARVATION, TRANSPORT AND CROWDING ON THE LEVEL OF THIOL-GROUPS IN PIGS, Journal of animal physiology and animal nutrition, 78(4-5), 1998, pp. 161-166
The investigation was performed on 9-month-old (H-) Landrace and Duroc
pigs of body weight 100 +/- 10 kg. The animals were subjected to a 6-
h transport over a distance of 300 km, a 7-day starvation, and 7-day c
rowding. After starvation, crowding and transport a decrease of the le
vel of non-protein thiol (SH) groups in the liver, kidney and muscle w
ere observed.
