Abstract
Structure and dynamics of radicals created by gamma irradiation in bet aine phosphate are investigated by EPR and ENDOR. The analysis of the ENDOR spectra shows that the nine hydrogen atoms of the three methyl g roups in the nitrogen radical (N) over dot (CH3)(3) are magnetically e quivalent. At room temperature the (N) over dot (CH3)(3) radical under goes a fast reorientation. This reorientation can not be described by a free rotation. The rhombic deformation of the H-1 and N-14 hfs tenso r indicates a jump like 120 degrees reorientation around a pseudo thre efold axis.
